Vintage wool greatcoats originally manufactured for the East German Armed Forces NVA (Nationale Volksarmee). This style of greatcoat (Trench Coat) superseded an earlier pattern and came into service in the 1960s and were used up until the end of Cold War. IT is worn by all ranks, including troops of the border guards, status was defined by the epaulets and the addition of cuff titles worn on the lower left sleeve as appropriate. Officers coats tended to be of a lightweight quality cloth with a quilted lining, but these better-quality coats were also worn by all ranks of the Stasi ceremonial regiment.
